Truth

I am an avid political follower;  whether we want to admit it or not politics play a major role in what shapes the economic and social realms of our society.  Recently I decided that I would take a break from the political chaos this country is currently in by consciously avoiding local and national news for a while.  I’ve decided that my time would be better spent on much more positive things like praying for our country than screaming at the television set and raising my blood pressure.

I have to honestly admit that I would have never imagined American society being ran by a political system as corrupt, unapologetically boastful, mean spirited, self-righteous and self-serving as the one we are currently witnessing.  I never understood other countries that fell under authoritarian rule until the threat of such rule from our current administration arose.

I intermittently watched one political rally of our current president a few years ago, I was so flabbergasted by what I was hearing and seeing that I haven’t lifted a finger to watch one since.  In those few minutes of watching the venom and deception, being pushed effortlessly out of his mouth into a crowd of folk who hung on his every disjointed, and rambling word, my heart ached for it to stop.  I watched as the crowd laughed, clapped, cheered and encouraged him to continue degrading and demoralizing anyone and any entity that he felt threaten his power. After about twenty minutes of the insanity, my moral compass could not take it any longer; I cut the TV off and refused to allow my eyes or ears to intake such deception ever again, least I fall prey.

After cutting the television off I cried out to the Lord, “Help us Lord,” and immediately a vision of the scripture in Matthew 27 of Jesus and Barabbas standing before a crowd of screaming and cheering folk came to mind:

27:v15-18 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to releasing to the multitude one prisoner whom they wished. And at that time they had a notorious prisoner called [b]Barabbas. Therefore, when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?” For he knew that they had handed Him over because of envy. ........v23 Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?”
But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let Him be crucified!”.......v26 When he released Barabbas to them; and when he had [e]scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.

Jesus (the truth), unjustly accused and falsely imprisoned stood before the people beaten and bruised for spreading the moral truth, and Barabbas, standing beside him, a man notorious for his crimes and being justly accused was being heralded by the crowd as the one to be released.  Not only did the crowd choose to convict the Truth unjustly but they lamented for His crucifixion.  In my vision I saw our current president as Barabbas, a vicious person, a master of deception and corrupt to the core.

Those that are currently standing for the truth, as Jesus was and is, are being crucified by the loud voices of the crowded field of, prosperity seeking evangelical priests and their congregations full of follow the leader blindly over the edge of the cliff sheep.  The crowds that gather time after time to hear and endorse the lies and deception are literally calling for the Truth to be crucified again.

I don’t know what will become of this country, but I have been assured by my Lord and Savior in Proverbs 16:18 that Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.  The pride and haughtiness are like a stench over this country right now, however, a fall has been proven to follow this spirit.  Unfortunately, many innocent folk will fall victim to this prey of deception on our society, but the Lord will have the final say.

I share with you a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that bares true today: “ I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality.  This is why right temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”

So if you are feeling discouraged by our current political climate, rest assured that God’s Word never fails.  Be patient, watch and pray, we know that God is working it out. As the old adage goes: He may not come when you want him, but He’s always on time!

Much Love
Melissa
