Patience

Shortly after accepting Christ as my Lord, and Savior in my late twenties, I had this overwhelming feeling that I had something within me to offer society as a Christian.   I didn’t know what I was to do, or where I was to do it, I just had this unction deep down in my spirit that kept pushing me to do something meaningful with my life.   After trying to figure it all out on my own to no avail, I decided to call my mom and get her opinion on the matter.   My Mother was such an uncomplicated woman, she had nothing fancy, didn’t have a formal education, she never learned how to drive, and I never once heard her raise her voice or argue.   She had two things that money, fame, nor fortune could buy; she was graced with wisdom and her heart overflowed with love, which meant more to me than anything.   I dialed my Mothers number unconsciously, as I had dialed these same numbers every morning for my entire adult life.  This call for me was different because ...

Journey

Lying in my hospital bed staring at the aging ceiling, silently wondering how I got from a tonsillectomy to having blood clots in my right leg and in both lungs.  At any minute a blood clot could have traveled to my heart or brain and caused irreparable damage to my body or even death.  These thoughts and the situation alone should have caused me serious concern, surprisingly I had absolutely no anxiety, nor did I have the propensity to torment myself with the fear of what ifs.  At one point, upon discovery of the clots,  I briefly thought about what would happen to my family if I were about to leave this world, but the Lord settled those thoughts immediately by reminding me that He took care of me when My Mother and Father left this earth, He would do the same for them. As I refocused and started thinking about what I needed to do when I got home to take better care of myself, and how far behind I would be when I got back to work, I was constantly being inter...

Batman

One afternoon after picking up my grand boys from daycare I decided to treat them to a trip to one of their favorite toy stores (ages three and four at the time).  They both were into what they called, "Powers," meaning superhero's such as Spiderman, Flash, etc.  As we were driving along, I decided to see how much they knew about superhero’s.   I began to ask them a litany of questions about their favorite "Power's." I asked them what each Power’s strength was and to add a little more excitement, I asked them, who could beat up who.  With ease, they rattled off attributes associated with their favorite, “Power.”   After what I deemed an interesting conversation, I concluded that these babies knew their “Power's,” pretty well; however, they had left one out.   In my, I gottcha voice I said, “what about Batman, you guys forgot Batman, they hurriedly began to site Batman’s attributes.   After they had exhausted what I thought they knew ab...

Assurance

On December 26th, 2019 I awoke from a particularly bothersome dream in which I was driving frantically trying to find shelter from a tornado.  The sky was dark, the winds blew fiercely and rain was pouring down.  In the dream I was looking for someplace that wasn't locked (as I had already tried two buildings) so that I could shelter from the storm. Granted I had not seen the tornado at this point, but I sensed it was close by, I instinctively knew I had to find some place to take cover.  Finally I ended up at a house where a very pleasant gray haired older man was living, he was standing on his porch in blue overalls and a white shirt that matched his gray hair, he was talking on his cellphone to someone while looking up towards the sky.  I glanced at him while hurriedly gathering my things from the car, and immediately he beckoned me with his hand to come.  As I got out the car I looked up into the sky in the direction he was looking and saw the biggest torna...
