Rejoice

Have you ever thought about a decision that you had made or a failed relationship and wondered, what if?

A few years ago, on my oldest daughter’s birthday, I was looking at some of her pictures and recalled a conversation that I had with her after having her heart broken for the first time.  She told me with great certainty, that it would be the VERY last time.  I smiled and tried my best to explain to her that some things are beyond our control.  She looked at me, totally confused, as I explained the difference between our plans for our lives versus God’s plans for our lives.  That if God could show her His plan for her life, I would guarantee that it was better than hers!

The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 29:11; “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord,” plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  This is a message directly from God to us.  We just have to trust in Him and His timing.
So often, we tend to tell ourselves, if only I would have, could have, or you know…should have.  Maybe you feel that you lost or missed out on a great opportunity; a job, or even a relationship.  Maybe at that time, you thought you’d NEVER find another.  Don’t live your life full of woulda, coulda, shoulda.  We’ve all had times that we wished we had a do-over; but we should never dwell on a decision to the point of robbing ourselves of living in the present or preparing for our future.  Don’t live discouraged because something didn’t go the way you planned or someone didn’t treat you the way that you deserved.  Stop looking at your situation as punishment and realize that it’s preparation.

Know that you are EXACTLY where you SHOULD be…and your life is exactly as it should be!  Your path was redirected, because God has SOMETHING or SOMEONE better for you.  The trials that you’ve overcome…and I say overcome, because if you’re here, you’re still in the game.  You STILL have a chance….but you have to let it go!
Remember the saying, let go and let God?  That’s because no matter how hard you try, you can’t look forward and backwards at the same time.

Psalm 37:4 says, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”  It’s true that God ALWAYS gives us double for our troubles.  The reward you will receive, by trusting HIM with the desires of your heart, is beyond comprehension.  He has bigger and better things in store for you, if you’ll only believe in Him!

There’s a quote that says, “For everything you have missed, you have gained something else; and for everything you’ve gained, you’ll lose something else.  It is about your outlook towards life.  You can either regret or rejoice!”  So my brothers and sisters, I don’t know about you, but I choose to REJOICE!

Yours in Christ
